Congratulatory messages have been pouring onto the social media account of model Kim Jin-kyung after her husband, goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu, delivered a standout performance to help South Korea win their 2026 North America World Cup opener against the Czech Republic.
South Korea defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 in the Group A first-round match Friday at Guadalajara Stadium in Zapopan, Mexico.
Hwang In-beom and Oh Hyeon-gyu each scored a goal, while starting goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu made a series of crucial saves to play a decisive role in securing the victory.
After the final whistle, grateful comments flooded Kim Jin-kyung's social media page. On a post featuring a photo of the couple's newborn daughter, fans wrote messages including "Daddy saved the country," "You're amazing, Dalbam's dad," "Dalbam was a lucky charm all along," and "Thank you for that super save."
Kim Seung-gyu and Kim Jin-kyung married in June 2024. The couple announced a pregnancy about a year after their wedding and welcomed their first daughter on June 4.
South Korea, buoyed by the opening win, face Mexico in their second group-stage match on June 19.
