Han Dong-hoon keeps promise to Manduk-dong youth, attends wedding on election day

Han Dong-hoon, the independent lawmaker elected in the June 3 Busan Buk-gu Gap by-election, made good on a promise he had made to a young constituent during his campaign.

Han wrote on his social media Saturday that while canvassing in Manduk 2-dong, he had joined the neighborhood's youth volunteer patrol unit on a night watch. "One of the young people I patrolled with told me he was getting married, and I promised I would be there," he said.

"The wedding was today — Saturday," he wrote, adding, "I wish them every happiness."

A video he posted showed him at the wedding venue, posing for photos with the bride and groom alongside local youth members.

During the campaign, Han had taken part in a late-night neighborhood patrol with members of the Manduk 2-dong youth volunteer patrol unit in Busan's Buk-gu.

He walked the area on foot and helped distribute flyers warning residents about voice phishing scams.

After the patrol, Han praised the volunteers' community spirit, saying Manduk in Busan's Buk-gu was "genuinely one of the safest neighborhoods in the country."

He credited the area's safety to "the quiet, selfless volunteer patrols that local citizens have kept up for decades," and expressed his gratitude.

Meanwhile, Han criticized the special prosecutor's office Saturday for extending his travel ban for a third time, calling it "a petty show of force."

"The political special prosecutor of the Lee Jae-myung administration is playing petty games," he wrote on social media. "On Saturday, they extended my travel ban again — with no reason given and no action taken."

He then challenged the special prosecutor directly. "What grounds are there for banning Han Dong-hoon from leaving the country three times over? What exactly has the special prosecutor done while keeping me under a travel ban?" he said, pushing back sharply.

The previous day, Han had said his travel ban was set to expire Friday and noted that the special prosecutor had not been in contact with him at all, calling the situation "a comedy" whether the ban was extended or not.
