Pakistan PM says US-Iran final deal expected within 24 hours, calls it 'historic peace deal'

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is mediating negotiations between the United States and Iran, said a final agreement could be reached within 24 hours, amid reports that a deal is imminent.

Sharif said Friday on his X account that "we are closer to a peace deal than ever before" and that "a final agreement is expected within the next 24 hours."

"We are ready to proceed immediately with the electronic signing of the agreement," he added, saying preparations were also underway to hold working-level talks next week.

He also expressed gratitude for the efforts of both countries and the support of regional partners in reaching a deal. "I am grateful for the sustained efforts shown by the United States and Iran throughout the negotiation process, and I sincerely thank our brother nations in the region for their support," Sharif said. "We are confident that this historic peace deal will serve as a solid foundation for lasting peace."
