'God of Business' seeks court-appointed interim director at Gaseyon

Eun Hyeon-jang, the operator of the YouTube channel "Jangsa-ui Shin" ("God of Business"), has asked a court to appoint an interim director with representative authority at Garo Sero Yeonguso, commonly known as Gaseyon.

Eun recently filed a petition with the court seeking the appointment of an interim director with representative authority at Gaseyon Co., according to the Hankook Ilbo. He acquired a 50 percent stake in the company while pushing back against Gaseyon, which had been raising allegations against him.

Eun's side said the filing was necessary because "CEO Kim can no longer be allowed to run Gaseyon on his own." According to the petition obtained by the Hankook Ilbo, Kim took office as CEO in July 2021, but his three-year term under the company's articles of incorporation expired in July 2024. Other directors have since resigned, leaving Kim to carry out his duties in the capacity of a "retired director."

Kim's detention was also cited as grounds for appointing an interim director. Eun's representatives said Kim was detained on charges including defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and the Stalking Crimes Punishment Act, as well as intimidation and attempted coercion — stemming in part from broadcasts related to actor Kim Soo-hyun — making it difficult for him to carry out normal business duties. They also argued that Gaseyon's YouTube channel had become a vehicle for repeated illegal conduct through Kim's broadcasts, damaging the company's reputation and increasing its exposure to liability for damages.
