Actor-singer Nam Gyu-ri volunteers at Seoul Station homeless shelter for second year running

Actor and singer Nam Gyu-ri has continued her volunteer work at a homeless welfare facility near Seoul Station.

Her management said Nam visited Mannasaem, a homeless welfare facility near Seoul Station, on June 11 alongside members of HUG, the community service group affiliated with Gangnam Central Baptist Church.

The visit was organized ahead of summer to look after the health and hygiene of homeless residents and provide them with a warm meal. Nam quietly took on the shelter's most demanding chores — doing laundry, cleaning restrooms and washing dishes — before joining the meal service. She also personally handed out hygiene products and summer essentials to every resident at the shelter.

Now in her second year volunteering with HUG, Nam drew attention for her unpretentious and sincere approach. After the service, she sat down at a table with the residents, shared a meal and spent time in easy, warm conversation.

A HUG representative said Nam "threw herself into every task without hesitation, bringing strong energy to the whole scene," adding that she gave an impromptu full-throated performance of Psy's "A Place to Lean On" that moved and comforted those worn down by hardship.

Nam also took part in Mannasaem's 20th anniversary event last September, where she sang "A Place to Lean On" and, at the audience's request, performed Cool's "I Love You" a cappella.

Nam communicates with fans through her personal YouTube channel "Gyulmung" and recently appeared on Coupang Play's "SNL Korea." Her group Cya is preparing for a full-group comeback and has an upcoming nationwide 20th-anniversary tour concert titled "THE FAN."
