Actor Im Hyun-sik reveals health struggles: 'I've been on medication for five to six months'

Actor Im Hyun-sik has spoken publicly about his recent health condition.

A video titled "Park Won-sook and Im Hyun-sik: The Final Stop of a 10-Year Slow Burn" was posted Saturday on Park Won-sook's YouTube channel "Park Won-sook Channel." In the video, Im visits Park at her home in Namhae.

When Im arrived at the cafe Park runs, she asked him, "You still look well — how are you doing?"

Im replied that he had not been in good health. "I went to the hospital and underwent about three months of tests," he said. "After that I started taking medication, and I've been on it for about five to six months now."

Park then asked him about a news report she had seen. "I saw something in the news about you ingesting pesticide — did you do that while drunk?" she said.

Im said the incident had happened about 20 years ago. "I was spraying pesticide on apple trees I was farming, and I felt unwell, so I went to Ilsan Hospital," he said. "I mentioned on TV that I had received treatment for that, and then the headlines came out saying 'Im Hyun-sik pesticide poisoning.'"
