Rebuilding Korea Party to elect new leader July 25

The Rebuilding Korea Party plans to hold a national convention to elect new leadership on July 25 at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province.

Senior spokesperson Park Byeong-eon told reporters after a supreme council meeting at the National Assembly on Monday.

"We plan to elect a new party leader through the convention and form a new leadership, including supreme council members," Park said. "We will complete the party's reorganization and steadfastly pursue the role entrusted to the Rebuilding Korea Party in achieving political reform and prosecutorial reform."

The convention was called after former party leader Cho Kuk stepped down immediately following the June 3 local elections.

A separate election to choose a new floor leader is set for Tuesday, with lawmaker Kim Jun-hyeong running as the sole candidate.
