Hwaseong City launched its Future Vision Committee at an inaugural ceremony Monday at the city hall auditorium, where officials presented appointment certificates to mark the committee's formal start.
The committee was established to set a future vision for the ninth elected-term administration and chart a citizen-centered direction for city governance. Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, committee chair Jo Seung-mun and advisory committee chair Oh Il-yong were among roughly 100 attendees who took part in the appointment ceremony, shared the committee's operational direction and joined the launch event.
The committee comprises 15 members drawn from fields including public administration, transportation, urban planning, economics, welfare and culture. Jo Seung-mun, a former second deputy mayor of Hwaseong Special City, serves as chair. An advisory committee of about 50 members, chaired by Oh Il-yong, was also formed to support the body.
The Future Vision Committee will operate through four subcommittees: city governance vision and administrative innovation; transportation and urban safety; future growth and the local economy; and citizen welfare, culture, sports and lifestyle. The committee is tasked with drawing up a long-term blueprint for Hwaseong Special City by reviewing the ninth-term vision framework and campaign pledges and identifying key priorities.
Mayor Jeong said the city had achieved remarkable growth during the eighth elected term, including its emergence as one of the nation's four largest special cities and the completion of a four district office system.
