The Gyeonggi Chapter 2 branch of "Hero Era With Hero," the fan club of singer Im Young-woong, donated 130 bags of 10-kilogram white rice — valued at 4.16 million won ($2,740) — to the city of Anyang to help neighbors in need.
A handover ceremony was held Monday at Anyang City Hall, attended by Mayor Choi Dae-ho, branch leader Lee Hun-young and fellow members, and officials from the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association's Anyang chapter — 21 people in total.
The donation was organized to mark Im's birthday on Tuesday. The rice will be distributed through the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association's Anyang chapter, led by President Byeon Eun-gyeong, to 130 low-income elderly households enrolled in the city's "banchan sharing" project, which provides side dishes to vulnerable residents.
The branch had previously donated 100 bags of rice to the city in June 2024 as part of its ongoing giving efforts.
"I am grateful to Hero Era With Hero for consistently practicing generosity for our community," Mayor Choi said.
