Yongin Special City announced Monday that it has launched the Yongin Renaissance 2.0 Planning Task Force to set a roadmap for the ninth elected-term administration, with operations running through July 20.
The task force aims to refine policies carried over from the eighth elected term and chart a course for Mayor Lee Sang-il's new campaign pledges, laying the groundwork for the incoming administration's agenda.
The task force is co-led by the city's first and second deputy mayors and organized into four subcommittees — administration, welfare and economy; education, culture and agriculture; urban affairs, transportation and construction; and semiconductors, future industries and environment. Seven external advisory members have also been included to bring specialized and comprehensive perspectives to policy review.
The group plans to prioritize key campaign pledges by sector, assess the feasibility of individual projects through internal and external meetings as well as public consultations, and then draw up detailed implementation plans.
"The incoming ninth elected-term administration, which carries continuity from the eighth, could well be called 'Yongin Renaissance Season 2,'" Lee said. "But while it must demonstrate that continuity, it also needs to bring something new."
He added that as the semiconductor boom continues, Yongin's fiscal outlook is expected to improve, making it necessary for the new administration to invest more boldly in expanding essential urban infrastructure and raising residents' quality of life.
