Complaints have emerged after Chinese tourists were seen smoking while riding the Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike, a popular tourist attraction in Chuncheon.
A user identified as A posted a photo to the online community Bobaedream on June 12.
"The Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike in Chuncheon has become Chinese-ified," A wrote, adding that the attraction was packed with Chinese visitors during a family outing with his children.
He said one Chinese tourist smoked continuously from start to finish while filming for TikTok. He said he asked staff members along the way to intervene, but no action was taken.
The photo showed a group of men and women believed to be Chinese tourists riding the rail bikes, with one woman holding a cigarette in her left hand.
The entire Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike course is a designated no-smoking zone. Under the National Health Promotion Act, smoking in a no-smoking zone carries a fine of up to 100,000 won (about $66).
