A woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability has given birth while unmarried, prompting police to open a rape investigation targeting her former supervisor, a man in his 70s.
According to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on Monday, the woman's parents filed a report in April saying their daughter had become pregnant while unmarried and that they suspected she had been sexually assaulted.
The woman, identified only as A, has an intellectual disability. Her parents said they learned of the pregnancy and the suspected assault only shortly before she gave birth.
Investigators found evidence suggesting A had been raped by B, a male executive in his 70s at a small and medium-sized enterprise where she had previously worked.
A police official declined to elaborate. "We cannot disclose specific details, including whether a suspect has been formally booked, as the investigation is ongoing," the official said.
