Suwon runs 'wish shopping' program to let vulnerable residents choose their own goods

Suwon announced Monday that it ran a tailored welfare program called "As You Wish, Wish Shopping" from May 4 to May 12, targeting households under case management and those at risk of social isolation.

The program lets participants personally select and purchase the items they need. It was funded through a designated donation made last year by Kia Co.'s labor and management to support vulnerable residents in Suwon.

Each participant received support worth up to 500,000 won ($329) to spend on daily necessities, electronics, food and other goods. Civil servants handling case management at each neighborhood administrative and welfare center accompanied participants on their shopping trips to assist with purchases.
