A man in his 20s has turned himself in to police after posting a threatening comment targeting the Songpa Police Station, which oversees the ongoing blockade protest at the vote-counting center inside the handball arena at Olympic Park in Seoul.
Seoul's Jungnang Police Station summoned and questioned the man after he posted a comment on an online news article reading, "Let's raid the Songpa Police Station armory and become democratization merit holders ourselves."
The man surrendered to police on Wednesday after seeing a news report that officers were tracking down the author of the comment. He admitted to posting it during questioning.
Police are reviewing whether to apply charges of public intimidation.
"Regardless of whether there was any actual intent to carry it out, this is a clear criminal act that creates anxiety among citizens and undermines public safety," a police official said. "We will thoroughly investigate and strictly handle any illegal conduct that damages the integrity of public discourse surrounding the Songpa vote-counting center."
