Guro-gu holds youth council assembly with middle, high school student governments

Seoul's Guro-gu district office announced Wednesday that it held the "2026 Guro Youth Autonomy Federation Greennare Student Council Assembly" at the district office's main auditorium on Tuesday, bringing together student governments from middle and high schools across the district.

The Guro Youth Autonomy Federation "Greennare," founded in 2014, is a youth umbrella organization that builds networks among student governments at local middle and high schools and supports the development of student self-governance. About 100 people attended Tuesday's event, including 70 student council delegates from 14 middle schools and nine high schools in the district, along with 30 Greennare youth members.

The program opened with remarks and congratulatory speeches, followed by briefings on projects from the education support division and Greennare. Student council representatives from each school then introduced their signature projects, and participants took part in recreational activities and received information about the Guro Youth General Vote and the upcoming Guro Youth Festival.

Participants also held a roundtable discussion, exchanging a range of ideas on a slogan for the Guro Youth Festival.

The event also included an announcement for Greennare's second round of recruitment and promotional briefings from youth-related organizations.

"I hope this was a meaningful occasion for young people to share their experiences and think together about community issues and how to run the festival," District Mayor Jang In-hong said. "We will continue to actively support a wide range of activities that allow youth to participate and grow on their own initiative."

Meanwhile, Guro-gu has allocated 29.51 billion won to education out of a total budget of 1.0039 trillion won ($661 million) for this year.
