US defense secretary warns Iran will see bombs 'tap tap tap' on key facilities

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth warned Wednesday local time that Iran's "key facilities" would be bombed.

Speaking to reporters at CENTCOM headquarters in Florida, Hegseth said the command — which oversees military operations against Iran — "is going to be very busy Wednesday night," because Iran "has had the opportunity to get a good deal" and "to formalize what they've said they were willing to do," but has refused to follow through.

He went on to say he could see Iran "tap tap tapping" on a deal — a phrase he used to mean stalling — but warned that instead, Iran "is going to see bombs tap tap tapping on Iran's key facilities" from the United States.

Earlier, President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House, "just in case you missed it or didn't have your TV on," that "we hit Iran very hard yesterday," and that the US would "hit Iran again, even harder, today."

Trump doubled down on his warning that Iran was "tapping and tapping" even though negotiations "are completely over," saying airstrikes on Iranian infrastructure — including power plants and bridges — were imminent and that he was fully prepared to carry them out.
