Committee to review the second supplementary budget proposal and fund management plan revision for 2026
The Gwangjin-gu Council (Speaker Jeon Eun-hye) held its first Budget and Accounts Special Committee meeting Friday, electing lawmaker Kim Sang-hee as committee chair and lawmaker Kim Sang-bae as vice chair.
The supplementary budget proposal under review totals 907.486 billion won (about $596 million), centered on essential expenditures including livelihood stabilization projects in response to high oil prices.
The committee will conduct a comprehensive review and make final adjustments through Monday, covering items such as the high oil price victim support fund district cost-sharing and disaster management fund reserves.
"Even within a short timeframe, I will do my utmost to ensure the committee operates in a way that produces a thorough and substantive review," Chair Kim Sang-hee said.
Vice Chair Kim Sang-bae said he would support the chair in consolidating lawmakers' views and ensuring a meticulous budget review aimed at improving residents' welfare.
The budget proposal approved by the committee is scheduled to be finalized at a plenary session Tuesday.
