Corp. runs child-friendly water regeneration experience booth for 3rd consecutive year
Kwon Wan-taek: 'We will lead the spread of water-environment practices in daily life'
Seoul Water Regeneration Facility Corp., led by Chairman Kwon Wan-taek, received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award at the 4th Korea Children's Award ceremony, held Saturday at Exhibition Hall 2 of the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
The corporation earned the award for three consecutive years of participation in the Korea Children's Expo, during which it has operated water regeneration environmental education programs and experience booths tailored to children to raise awareness of water environments.
At last year's expo, the corporation drew strong responses from more than 5,000 visitors with distinctive content including "Water Drop Sound" and "Water Regeneration Time Watch." This year, it has centered its offerings on "Woo-dang-tang-tang Water Lab," a flagship program of the Seoul Water Regeneration Experience Center, and organized a range of hands-on programs to convey the value of the water cycle and environmental conservation to children in an accessible and engaging way.
The programs were designed so children can go beyond simply watching and instead participate directly, naturally coming to understand the importance of water environments.
This year's expo features a wide range of programs at the corporation's booth. Inquiry and experiment activities include "Woo-dang-tang-tang Water Lab" and "Water Drop Garden," while physical activity games include "Sewer Maze Adventure" and "Drain Cleaning Mission." A participatory public art program, "Declaration of Clean Water," invites children to share their commitment to water conservation. The booth also runs a "Water Cycle Goods Making" workshop where visitors can craft items including manhole cover Jibbitz charms, clear-water water balls and water regeneration DIY keycap keyrings.
Visitors who stop by the booth during the expo — running Saturday through Sunday — and take part in an online channel subscription event or complete a satisfaction survey will receive various souvenirs, including eco-friendly toothpaste dispensers and water drop cotton candy.
"We will continue to actively expand the excellent education content of the Seoul Water Regeneration Experience Center so that children can feel the value of water environments for themselves and put that into practice in their daily lives," Chairman Kwon said. "We will lead the spread of a water-environment practice culture in everyday life and redouble our efforts in environmental education for future generations."
