Car driven by man in his 70s mounts sidewalk in Busan, killing 1 and leaving 1 in cardiac arrest

A car driven by a man in his 70s mounted a sidewalk in Busan on Sunday, killing one person and leaving three others seriously or moderately injured.

According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a Kia K7 sedan struck four pedestrians on a sidewalk in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, at around 1:08 p.m. Sunday before coming to a stop after hitting a subway ventilation structure.

A woman in her 30s died in the accident, while a woman in her 60s was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest. Two other victims — a teenage girl and a woman in her 20s — sustained injuries to their legs and head, respectively, and are receiving treatment at a hospital.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning the driver and witnesses.
