The inauguration of Daegu Mayor-elect Choo Kyung-ho will be held as an "open event" on July 1.
The city of Daegu said the inauguration of Choo as the 36th mayor of Daegu will take place at Palgong Hall of the Daegu Culture and Arts Center on July 1, designed to celebrate and engage with residents in an open, public format.
The ceremony will include a "citizen participation section" with 300 seats reserved for residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications will be accepted June 23–25 on the Daegu city government's website. Applicants must enter their personal information and submit a short message — "a sincere word for the mayor" — to complete registration.
The city will select 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis and send mobile invitations by the end of June.

"We are pleased to welcome citizens to the occasion that opens a new future for Daegu," said Ahn Jung-gon, head of the city's administrative bureau. He added that selected participants should arrive no later than 30 minutes before the ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
