LG Twins hit 4 consecutive home runs in 1st inning, surge to sole first place

The LG Twins opened Sunday's game with a four-homer barrage and swept their weekend series against the Doosan Bears.

LG blasted five home runs — including four consecutive solo shots in the bottom of the first inning — to rout Doosan 9-3 in the 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Jamsil Baseball Stadium on Sunday. The Twins rallied past Doosan in all three games of the series and pushed second-place KT Wiz three games back to cement their hold on sole first place.

Doosan drew first blood when Jung Su-bin tripled and scored on an error in the top of the first, but LG answered sharply. Song Chan-eui, Austin Dean, Park Dong-won and Moon Jung-bin hit four consecutive solo home runs off Doosan starter Zack Logue, flipping the score to 4-1. It marked the first time in KBO history that a team hit four home runs in the opening half-inning of a game. It was also the first time four home runs had been hit in a single inning at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which has the deepest outfield dimensions in the league.

LG extended its lead to 9-1 on Moon's two-run homer in the fifth and three more runs — aided by an error — in the sixth, effectively ending the contest. Doosan, now on a three-game losing streak, could manage only two runs in the ninth. Austin Dean's solo shot was his 21st of the season, moving him past Kim Do-young of the KIA Tigers into sole first place in the home run standings. The Twins also reached the 4,000 franchise home run milestone, becoming the sixth KBO club to do so.

In Suwon, the KIA Tigers pounded out 20 hits to beat KT Wiz 11-5, avenging a comeback loss the previous day. KT led 4-1 through three innings on Choi Won-jun's leadoff home run in the bottom of the first and a solo shot by Sam Hilliard, then pushed the margin to 5-2 with a run in the fifth. KIA erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh — batting around the order — to take the lead. Back-to-back singles by Han Jun-su and Byeon Woo-hyeok set the table for RBI hits by Herald Castro and Kim Seon-bin that made it 7-5, and four more runs in the eighth put the game away.

In Daejeon, the Samsung Lions held off the Hanwha Eagles 3-1. Samsung seized control with Koo Ja-wook's two-run double in the third inning and added an insurance run on an error in the seventh. Hanwha's Kang Baek-ho hit a solo home run over the right-field monster wall in the fourth, but it was not enough to change the outcome. Samsung starter Yang Chang-seop earned his fifth win of the season with five innings of one-run ball. Closer Kim Jae-yun notched his 17th save to lead all KBO relievers in that category.

In Changwon, the SSG Landers rallied past the NC Dinos 7-3. Trailing 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Guillermo Heredia launched a go-ahead three-run homer to center to put SSG up 5-3, and RBI singles by Jeong Jun-jae and Park Seong-han in the eighth sealed the win. At Gocheok Sky Dome, the Lotte Giants downed the Kiwoom Heroes 6-3 to extend their winning streak to five games. Lotte took command with Kim Dong-hyun's three-run homer in the fourth inning, building a 5-0 lead. Kim, who made his first-team debut this season, went 2-for-2 with two walks, reaching base on all four plate appearances. Kiwoom, meanwhile, fell to a six-game losing streak and remained in last place.
