Mayor-elect calls for 'sales administration' approach in Dongjak-gu's 9th directly elected term
Dongjak-gu Mayor-elect Ryu Sam-young has proposed asking local businesses to donate resident amenity facilities to the district.
Ryu made the suggestion Friday morning during a visit to Sayuksin Historical Park with members of his transition committee. "If we receive donations of resident amenity facilities — such as Muscle Park — from companies in the area, the district office can save on its budget while the companies benefit from an improved corporate image," he said.
He also signaled his intent to pursue what he called "sales administration," saying the district should "consider establishing a dedicated external affairs organization to handle this kind of work."
The Sayuksin Historical Park Muscle Park that Ryu toured is an outdoor fitness facility that opened in April, equipped for strength training targeting specific muscle groups including the thighs and chest.
The facility has become popular among exam candidates preparing for police and fire department entrance tests, owing to its proximity to the cluster of police and fire department hagwon in the Noryangjin area.
Ryu, a former police officer, demonstrated his physical fitness by completing 10 pull-ups with ease.
During the 9th nationwide local elections, Ryu campaigned on a pledge to expand lifestyle sports facilities along the Han River — including adding exercise equipment and gear storage along the riverbank and building an additional park golf course near Dongjak Parking Park.
