Middle school girl in critical condition after falling from rooftop of 6-story building

A middle school girl fell from the rooftop of a six-story building in Gyeonggi Province after attempting to jump to an adjacent rooftop, leaving her in critical condition.

According to the Siheung Police Station, the girl, identified only as A, fell to the ground from the rooftop of a six-story building in Dochang-dong, Siheung, at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

A suffered multiple fractures and internal organ ruptures. She was airlifted to Ajou University Hospital, where she is receiving treatment but has not regained consciousness, police said.

Investigators found that A had been on the rooftop with five friends when she lost her footing while attempting to jump to the rooftop of another building within the same complex.

The gap between the two buildings was about 1 meter, police said.

A was not a resident of the building, police said.

Police believe A was visiting a friend's home when the accident occurred and are questioning the friends who were present to determine the exact circumstances of the fall.
