Daebo Group chairman vows to meet management goals at 46th anniversary ceremony

Daebo Group held its 46th anniversary ceremony June 19 at the Songpa Youth Training Center in Seoul, with about 300 executives and employees from its headquarters, field offices and business sites in attendance, the company announced Monday.

At the ceremony, Chairman Choi Deung-gyu encouraged staff to push forward despite a challenging business environment. "Though internal and external conditions are difficult, let us make sure we achieve this year's management goals through Daebo's own strengths," he said. "Let us keep moving forward so that the name Daebo becomes a source of pride and honor for everyone."

Choi also highlighted the success of the Seowon Valley Charity Green Concert held in May, which drew a cumulative audience of nearly 670,000. "Just as the Green Concert's core values are the 'spirit of sharing' — giving up the most precious turf on a golf course — and the 'consistency' of carrying on for 26 years, Daebo Group must also become a company that grows sustainably," he said.

The Green Concert is Daebo Group's flagship corporate social responsibility program, designed to give back to society and support those in need. The event opens the group's golf course free of charge so families can play on the fairways, while also featuring performances by well-known singers and accepting charitable donations. Now in its 22nd edition this year, it is the only golf course concert of its kind in South Korea.

Daebo Group was founded in 1981 when Chairman Choi established Daebo Industries and has since consistently expanded into construction, retail, information and communications technology, and leisure through affiliates including Daebo Construction, Daebo Retail, Daebo Information and Communications, and Seowon Valley Country Club. The group employs about 4,000 people and posts annual sales of around 2.2 trillion won ($1.43 billion). Choi has also appeared on Golf Inc. magazine's ranking of the most influential figures in the Asian golf industry for five consecutive years, cementing his standing in the sector.
