21 stores in the district already designated; applications accepted through 'Mongttang Info Manneungki' portal — up to 300,000 won ($195) in support available for new participants
Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul is expanding its "Seoul Kids OK Zone" program to make dining out with young children easier for families. District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung is leading the initiative.
The Seoul Kids OK Zone program identifies food and beverage stores equipped with child-friendly facilities and accessories so that families with young children can dine comfortably. Twenty-one establishments in Eunpyeong-gu currently participate, and the district plans to keep growing that number by encouraging more local restaurants to join.
To qualify for designation, a store must offer a children's menu, provide child dining accessories — including tableware and high chairs — and have a recommended floor area of at least 80 square meters. Businesses wishing to participate may apply at any time throughout the year through the "Mongttang Info Manneungki" website, part of the Tansaeng Eungwon Seoul Project portal.
Newly designated stores will receive up to 300,000 won (about $195) toward the purchase of infant tableware, high chairs and other child-related items. The district will also cover the cost of enrolling in commercial liability insurance to help prevent safety accidents.
"Through the expansion of the Seoul Kids OK Zone, we will build a city where going out with children is a joy," district mayor Kim said. "We will continue to support a wide range of policies to make Eunpyeong a great place to raise children."
