Honda CB1000F returns after 45 years, pre-orders open in South Korea

Honda Korea has opened pre-orders for the CB1000F, a next-generation retro sport naked motorcycle set for domestic release. The model revives the design spirit of the CB series, which made its mark on the racing circuit in the 1980s.

Pre-orders began Monday through authorized Honda Motorcycle dealers nationwide. An official launch is scheduled for July.

The CB1000F carries forward the lineage of Honda's signature CB series, drawing particular inspiration from the CB750F and CB900F — machines that competed in the North American AMA Championship in the 1980s. Honda developed the bike around the concept of "the ultimate balanced roadster," blending the classic character of the original CB models with performance and convenience features suited to today's riding conditions.

The exterior clearly echoes the road sport motorcycles of the 1980s. The bike features a straight body silhouette flowing from a classic fuel tank to the rear cowl, along with a large circular LED headlight. Dual horns and megaphone-style mufflers reinforce the retro aesthetic.

The color scheme and graphics also draw from vintage race machines. A stripe pattern inspired by the livery of legendary AMA Championship rider Freddie Spencer gives the CB1000F a distinct identity.

The powertrain is a 1000cc water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine developed from the unit found in the CB1000 Hornet sport naked. Honda says it has been tuned to deliver stronger torque and throttle response in the low-to-mid rev range most commonly used in everyday riding, making the bike manageable in both urban and long-distance conditions.

The CB1000F also comes equipped with an advanced riding-assist system. Built around a six-axis IMU, it integrates throttle-by-wire, Honda Selectable Torque Control, wheelie control and cornering ABS. Riders can choose from five riding modes — Standard, Sport, Rain, User 1 and User 2 — to suit different conditions and preferences.

Convenience features include a smart key system and a 5-inch TFT display. Honda Korea also offers 13 genuine accessories, allowing riders to personalize their motorcycles to their own taste.

The CB1000F will be sold in two color options: silver with blue stripe graphics and black with red accents. Honda Korea is also running a promotional event offering a quick-shifter accessory to the first 30 customers who place a pre-order or make a purchase.

Meanwhile, the Honda CB series traces its roots to the CB92 Benly, launched in 1959, making it the brand's flagship motorcycle lineup with a history spanning more than 65 years. Combining performance, style and everyday riding appeal, the series has consistently attracted riders around the world.
