Oasis Market said Tuesday it is temporarily capping daily sign-ups for its "Club Oasis" membership at 5,000 people.
Club Oasis, launched June 17, is a subscription service priced at 2,000 won per month. Members can earn up to 20 percent of general purchases and up to 30 percent of beauty product purchases back as points. Starting from the seventh month of membership, the monthly subscription fee is also fully refunded in points.
New member sign-ups jumped more than tenfold compared to previous rates immediately after the membership launched. Oasis Market said it decided to temporarily limit sign-ups to maintain stable service quality. However, existing members who have already signed up can still subscribe to Club Oasis regardless of the restriction.
Oasis Market plans to continue offering new subscribers a six-month fee waiver and a point credit worth 12,000 won (about $8). "We will work to ensure that everyone who wishes to subscribe to Club Oasis can do so as soon as possible," a company official said.
