Dongsuh Foods expands Kanu Barista capsule lineup for summer

Dongsuh Foods' premium capsule coffee brand Kanu Barista, launched in February 2023, is expanding its consumer reach through a steady rollout of new products and promotions.

The brand offers a dedicated capsule lineup spanning light, medium and dark roasts, with a total of 18 varieties including decaffeinated and single-origin options. Each capsule contains 9.5 grams of coffee beans — 1.7 times more than a standard espresso capsule — optimized for brewing Americano-style coffee.

Late last year, the brand introduced two latte-specific capsules: Kanu Soft Harmony and Kanu Forte Ensemble. Kanu Soft Harmony blends Ethiopian natural beans with milk to deliver a jasmine-scented sweetness, while Kanu Forte Ensemble combines Latin American beans with African varieties for a flavor profile of dark chocolate, brown sugar and caramel. The brand also unveiled its fourth single-origin product, Kanu Single Origin Brazil Cerrado.

This month, Kanu Barista expanded its iced coffee capsule lineup with two new additions — Kanu Lively Breeze and Kanu Infinite Peak. Kanu Lively Breeze blends Ethiopian beans to produce a sweet berry aroma with a refreshing finish, while Kanu Infinite Peak uses Colombian beans to deliver a rich, deep flavor even when served over ice.

The brand has also pursued experiential marketing. From September through November last year, it operated a tailor shop-themed pop-up called "Kanu Capsule Tailor in Bukchon" in the Bukchon neighborhood of Jongno-gu, Seoul. It also ran a "Switch to Kanu" pop-up store at Starfield Hanam.

"Kanu Barista lets consumers conveniently enjoy Americano-style coffee — the most preferred type in Korea — with consistently high quality," a Dongsuh Foods official said. "We will continue to introduce a diverse range of capsule products that satisfy consumers' coffee preferences, drawing on the expertise behind Kanu Barista."
