Hyundai Department Store Group donates 1 billion won to families of fallen Navy personnel

<style ref="s0"> </style><style ref="s1">Hyundai Department Store Group announced Tuesday it will donate 1 billion won over 10 years to the families of Navy personnel killed in the line of duty.</style>

The group held a scholarship fund donation ceremony Monday with the Navy at the Mugunghwa Hall of the Navy Headquarters in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province. Hyundai Green Food President Park Hong-jin and Navy Chief of Staff Kim Gyeong-ryul were among those in attendance.

The funds will be delivered in installments of 100 million won per year through 2035, to be used for scholarships for bereaved families of fallen Navy personnel and for programs to cultivate future Navy talent.

With this donation, Hyundai Department Store Group will have committed a total of 4 billion won in support for families of service members killed across all three branches of the military. Since 2023, the group has donated 200 million won annually to the "Dedication to the Nation, Love for Comrades Fund" for children of fallen Army personnel. Starting this year, it has also been contributing 100 million won annually to the "Sky Love Scholarship Foundation" for families of fallen Air Force personnel.

The group has also maintained steady support for the families of uniformed civil servants such as firefighters and police officers. From 2008 through last year, it delivered a total of 2.732 billion won to 788 children of firefighters killed or injured on duty. Since 2011, it has provided a total of 4.97 billion won to 2,677 children of police officers killed or injured on duty.

"We will continue to honor the noble sacrifices of uniformed civil servants and fulfill our corporate social responsibility by offering a small gesture of support to their bereaved families," Park said.
