MOU with Yonsei Institute of Digital Health to cover AI model development and new service creation
Dong-a ST, a pharmaceutical company primarily focused on developing and supplying synthetic drugs, said Monday it has strengthened its capabilities in digital healthcare service development and clinical validation, an area it has been cultivating as a future growth engine.
The company signed an MOU with the Yonsei Institute of Digital Health (YIDH) at Yonsei University covering digital healthcare service development.
Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to collaborate on medical AI model development and the development and validation of digital healthcare services.
YIDH is an inter-university research institute that brings together Yonsei University's medical, dental and nursing schools alongside the Yonsei Health System's digital health division. The institute handles the full pre-validation pipeline for digital healthcare service research and development. It also conducts transdisciplinary convergence research, trains digital health specialists, builds global healthcare networks, and identifies and supports demand for digital services at clinical sites.
The two organizations plan to combine their research capabilities and digital healthcare business experience to develop new medical services, while also pursuing AI-based data utilization research.
Dong-a ST has established a dedicated digital healthcare business division and expanded investment in the sector. The company is building a digital healthcare portfolio spanning prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management. It is also working toward an integrated, patient-centered medical service model that links its existing pharmaceutical business with medical data services. Its digital health lineup includes HiCardi, a wearable ECG remote monitoring platform; Dr. Noon, an AI retinal diagnostic solution; and a continuous glucose monitor.
"We will develop innovative digital healthcare solutions that can be readily used at clinical sites and contribute to improving patient-centered medical services," said Jeong Jae-hoon, president of Dong-a ST.
Kim Hyun-chang, director of YIDH, said the institute and Dong-a ST would jointly pursue validation and cohort research on digital health products and services and continue to broaden the scope of their cooperation.
