Comedian Jeong Jong-cheol, best known for his "Okdongja" character on KBS's "Gag Concert," has shared an update on his son, who recently graduated from high school in Canada. His son reportedly graduated with top honors and gained admission to five prestigious Canadian universities, including the University of Toronto.
Jeong shared the news on his social media account on June 21, reflecting on his son's journey studying abroad alone and the achievements he made along the way.
"When we first decided to send him to Canada, I worried a lot — it was an unfamiliar environment, far from his parents," Jeong said. "But my son got through every step of it on his own."
His son, Sihu, reportedly received several honors at the graduation ceremony, including recognition as an honor student, a gold cord award and a top academic achievement prize. He also gained admission to five top Canadian universities, including the University of Toronto.
"What makes mom and dad most proud is not that we pushed him to do it, but that he got here entirely on his own," Jeong said, adding that he felt sorry for being unable to attend the graduation ceremony in person.
Meanwhile, Jeong rose to fame through his "Okdongja" character on KBS's "Gag Concert" and currently connects with fans through his YouTube channel "Okjubu," where he shares content about family life and cooking. He married actor Hwang Gyu-rim in 2006 and has one son and two daughters.
