JTBC denies reports of variety show production halt amid rehabilitation proceedings

JTBC has denied reports that it suspended filming of variety programs as part of its court rehabilitation proceedings.

A JTBC official told multiple outlets, including News1, on Monday that reports of a production halt were "groundless," adding that "all variety programs are scheduled to proceed with recording as planned."

Earlier that day, entertainment outlet My Daily reported that JTBC planned to halt production on all variety shows except the popular "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" and a new program called "Yeonae Jeonjaeng," a dating competition show. Programs said to be affected included "Divorce Deliberation Camp," "Knowing Bros" and "Talk Correspondent 25."

With JTBC flatly denying the report, production of those programs is expected to continue as normal.

JTBC declared a default on June 12 after failing to repay 20.6 billion won ($13.4 million) in securitized borrowings on time. Two days later, on June 14, affiliates including Joongang Holdings, ContentreeJoongAng, Joongang P&I and Megabox Joongang filed for court rehabilitation. JTBC itself followed with its own rehabilitation filing on June 15.
