Baek Jin-hee quit drinking after blacking out, losing jewelry and getting overcharged for a cab

Actor Baek Jin-hee has opened up about why she quit drinking.

A video titled "VLOG: Close college friends expose Baek Jin-hee's embarrassing college days! Why she quit drinking" was posted Monday to her YouTube channel "Jini Is Back."

In the video, Baek documented a trip she took with college classmates.

When the topic of a blackout incident from her past came up, Baek recalled the experience in front of the friends who had been there with her.

"I was going through a hard time back then, so I was drinking with friends in Itaewon. I really drank a lot — we went through eight bottles of soju," she said. "Then I blacked out and disappeared. My friends were in a total panic." The revelation left everyone at the table stunned.

What she woke up to the next day was even more bewildering.

"When I opened my eyes, my earrings, rings and bracelet were all gone," Baek said. "I'd also been overcharged for a cab — the fare came out to more than 80,000 won ($52)." Her friends burst out laughing as they recalled the episode, but Baek remembered every detail of that day with striking clarity.

"I was so scared of myself at that moment," she admitted.

The experience ultimately changed her lifestyle.

"After that, I quit drinking," Baek said, sharing what she described as the most mortifying chapter of her college years.
