Zeekr enters Korean market this month with premium electric SUV; KAIDA vice chairman expects 'positive synergy'
The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association announced Wednesday that Zeekr Korea, a Chinese premium eco-friendly vehicle brand, has joined the association as a member.
Zeekr is a luxury technology brand that Geely Holding Group established on April 15, 2014. By the first half of 2025, the brand had delivered more than 580,000 vehicles in over 40 countries across Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Zeekr signed dealer agreements with local sales and service partners in December last year and this month officially launched its premium midsize electric SUV, the 7X, in South Korea, marking the start of its full-scale push into the Korean market.
The brand began unveiling the vehicle at nine stores across the country, including in Seoul, and plans to expand its network to 14 locations by the end of this year.
KAIDA Vice Chairman Jeong Yun-young welcomed the development. "We sincerely welcome the addition of Zeekr, a global luxury electrification brand," Jeong said. "We expect it to add positive synergy to the role imported vehicles play in accelerating the shift to eco-friendly mobility and leading the electrification paradigm."
Jeong added that the association would "contribute to enhancing the overall competitiveness of the domestic automotive industry ecosystem — rationally improving policies and systems in response to a rapidly changing industrial environment, while enabling consumers to experience sustainable mobility value."
Founded in 1995, KAIDA marks its 31st anniversary this year. With Zeekr's addition, the association now counts 22 companies operating 29 brands that officially import and sell vehicles in South Korea as members.
KAIDA works closely with government agencies and industry bodies on the rationalization of automotive regulations and systems, as well as policy development, to help improve the market environment.
