BMW Korea launches 7 Series black trim models, touting 'commanding presence'

BMW Korea announced Wednesday it will release black trim versions of the BMW 740i xDrive M Sport Limited and the BMW 740d xDrive M Sport.

The new black trim retains the driving performance and product qualities of the existing models while applying a black high-gloss finish to key exterior elements, creating a more intense and refined look.

On the BMW 7 Series black trim, the side mirror blades, side window frames, door handles and side sill covers are finished in black high-gloss instead of the previous silver chrome. The change preserves the flagship sedan's signature sense of prestige while adding a sharper, more dynamic character.

The 740i xDrive M Sport Limited black trim is powered by a BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 381 horsepower and peak torque of 55.1 kg·m.

The 740d xDrive M Sport black trim uses a BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering a maximum output of 299 horsepower and peak torque of 68.3 kg·m.

Both models feature a 48-volt mild hybrid system and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive, enhancing fuel efficiency, ride comfort and driving stability.

Prices, including value-added tax and with the individual consumption tax rate of 3.5 percent applied, are 160.8 million won ($105,000) for the 740i xDrive M Sport Limited black trim and 150.7 million won for the 740d xDrive M Sport black trim.

Meanwhile, the BMW 7 Series topped domestic import large-car sales from January through May this year. According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, combined sales of the 7 Series — including the all-electric i7 — reached 2,590 units over that period, up about 7 percent from the same period last year.

BMW Korea operates a luxury-class membership program called the BMW Excellence Club for 7 Series customers. The program offers a range of premium services, including VIP invitations to the Cannes Film Festival, priority access to the BMW Ladies Championship, and culinary, golf and cultural arts programs.
