First collaboration in a nationwide dessert brand partnership project
Bokhodoo selected through consumer recommendations and vote; red bean flavor highlighted
Lotte Wellfood's steady-selling Margaret cookie has joined forces with popular dessert brand Bokhodoo to release a collaboration product, Margaret Walnut Cake Flavor (pictured).
The new product is the first result of the "Margaret's Cafe Travel" project — known by its Korean shorthand "Makahaeng" — that Lotte Wellfood launched this year. The project reinterprets signature menus from well-known dessert brands and cafes across the country in Margaret style, releasing them as limited-edition products. It was conceived to align with dessert trends spreading through social media.
The collaboration was driven by consumer participation. Bokhodoo was selected through a final public vote from among dessert brands nominated by consumers via Lotte Wellfood's official Instagram account. The brand has built a following among younger generations with its signature menu combining walnut cake with red bean butter.
Margaret Walnut Cake Flavor recreates the taste of Bokhodoo's signature "red bean walnut cake." It pairs Margaret's characteristic crispy-outside, moist-inside texture with sweet, fluffy red bean paste and captures the nutty aroma of freshly baked walnut cake. The packaging features Bokhodoo's characters "Hoboki" and "Boko." The product will be sold as a seasonal limited edition in two sizes: 176 grams (8 packs) and 352 grams (16 packs).
"We will continue collaborating with trendy dessert brands through the Makahaeng project," a Lotte Wellfood official said.
