Another South Korean vessel completes Red Sea transit, marking 10th crude shipment

Another South Korean vessel has safely completed its voyage transporting crude oil through the Red Sea. It marks the 10th such shipment via the Red Sea since the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said Thursday that, as of 1 p.m., a South Korean vessel that loaded crude oil at Saudi Arabia's Yanbu port had safely transited the Red Sea and was en route to South Korea. The vessel is a very large crude-oil carrier (VLCC), capable of carrying an average of approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil.

While the vessel navigated the Red Sea, the ministry provided round-the-clock real-time monitoring and navigation safety information, and maintained a real-time communication system linking the ministry, the shipping company and the vessel to support safe passage.

The ministry said it plans to continue providing safety support for South Korean vessels and crew to help stabilize the country's crude oil supply.

However, specific operational details — including the shipping company, vessel name and charterer — were not disclosed out of concern for the safety of the vessel and its crew.
