Investigators to conduct delinquency probes and connect residents with welfare services
Living wage applied; positions run August through November
Seoul's Dobong-gu district is accepting public applications for eight "local tax delinquency investigators" to track down residents who have failed to pay local taxes.
The recruitment drive — the first of its kind this year — aims to advance fair tax justice while also creating public-sector jobs in the district.
The investigators' core duties will include phone consultations and on-site visits to identify the causes of delinquency and support collection efforts against those who have deliberately concealed assets.
For residents struggling financially, the investigators will encourage installment payment plans and connect them with tailored welfare services through the district's welfare department, including emergency living-expense support and job placement assistance.
Applicants must be South Korean nationals aged 18 or older as of the announcement date; there are no restrictions on gender or educational background. Applications will be accepted from July 6 through July 10 via the Seoul Metropolitan Government's tax delinquency management unit recruitment website.
The positions run from August through November, with a five-day workweek and six hours per day. Compensation will be set at Seoul's 2026 living wage of 12,121 won ($8) per hour.
Eight candidates will be selected through document screening and interviews, with final results posted on the Dobong-gu district website.
Further details on the recruitment process are available on the Dobong-gu website under the job postings section, or by contacting the district office's tax administration division.
"Through the operation of the local tax delinquency management unit, we will rigorously collect outstanding taxes from habitual delinquents to secure sound district finances, while also extending warm tax administration by connecting struggling neighbors with welfare services," a district official said.
