Mileage-priority flights on Gimpo-Jeju route scheduled from July 27 to Aug. 6
Korean Air announced Friday it will operate mileage charter flights on the Gimpo-Jeju route from July 27 to Aug. 6 to meet peak summer travel demand.
The special flights are designed to address rising summer travel demand while giving customers greater flexibility to redeem their mileage points.
A total of 20 flights will operate during the period — two per day, excluding Aug. 2 — with mileage-priority ticketing available for designated time slots on the Gimpo-Jeju route. The aircraft deployed will be the Airbus A220-300, configured with 140 economy-class seats.
Departures from Gimpo are concentrated in the afternoon. Flights leave Gimpo Airport at 6:20 p.m. on July 27 and Aug. 3; at 4:25 p.m. on July 28, July 30, Aug. 1, Aug. 4 and Aug. 6; at 5:10 p.m. on July 29 and Aug. 5; and at 4:20 p.m. on July 31.
Departures from Jeju Airport are scheduled at 8:50 p.m. on July 27 and Aug. 3; at 6:50 p.m. on July 28, Aug. 1 and Aug. 4; at 7:40 p.m. on July 29 and Aug. 5; and at 6:25 p.m. on July 30, July 31 and Aug. 6.
"Through these mileage charter flights, we will expand seat supply on the Gimpo-Jeju route during the summer peak season while helping customers put their accumulated mileage toward actual travel," a Korean Air official said.
Meanwhile, Korean Air has been working to improve convenience for mileage customers. As of June, the airline has 81 mileage-accrual partners — including Naver, Kyobo Book Centre and in-flight duty-free shops — and 35 mileage-redemption partners.
In addition, the airline operates a permanent "hidden mileage finder" feature to help customers who hold multiple membership numbers or have not updated their contact information update their personal details more easily.
