Genesis unveils Magma GT Concept, GMR-001 hypercar design model in Asian premiere at Busan Mobility Show

Genesis made the Asian premiere of the Magma GT Concept and the GMR-001 Hypercar design model at a press conference during the 2026 Busan Mobility Show at BEXCO in Busan on Friday, laying out a brand direction built on the balance between luxury and high performance.

Hyundai Motor Group President and Chief Creative and Design Officer Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis Division Executive Vice President Lee Si-hyeok and Genesis Magma Racing driver Andre Lotterer took the stage as presenters.

"Genesis has not rested on the achievements of the past decade but has taken on the new frontier of endurance racing," Donckerwolke said. "Going forward, the future of Genesis will move toward a perfect balance between luxury and high performance."

The Magma GT Concept, first unveiled in November last year at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, embodies both performance and emotional value, grounded in Genesis's design philosophy of "Athletic Elegance."

The concept car reinterprets grand tourer racing elements with a low front fascia, wide fenders and a dynamic midship proportion. A boat-tail silhouette that narrows toward the rear and a low, wide body ratio project a commanding sense of performance.

The interior design pairs separate driver and passenger zones with a driver-focused layout, blending analog and digital information harmoniously.

An analog instrument cluster inspired by the precision mechanical timepieces used in motorsport maximizes immersion through carefully engineered physical controls. Digital information is integrated in a restrained manner, delivering intuitive readouts without distracting the driver.

Genesis is also displaying for the first time in Asia a full-scale design model that served as the basis for the GMR-001 Hypercar — the car at the heart of the brand's historic debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

The model was first shown in April last year at Genesis House New York, the brand's cultural complex in Manhattan, and its design gave rise to the dedicated livery used at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, held June 13–14 local time.

Genesis also embedded Korean identity throughout the car, attaching a Taegukgi on the front and inscribing the word "Magma" in hangul at multiple points on the vehicle.

Genesis made its racing debut 499 days after announcing its motorsport entry in December 2024, competing in the season opener, the 6 Hours of Imola, in Italy in April. In May, the team scored its first championship points at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 13–14 local time, the GMR-001 Hypercar No. 19 completed 372 laps to finish 13th overall, further establishing the brand's presence on the world stage.

The result is considered particularly significant as it confirmed both the car's reliability and its long-distance operational capability for a first-time entrant.

Genesis will carry the momentum from Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans forward in Busan.

"We will provide differentiated experiences to domestic customers and elevate brand value through our endurance racing challenge."

At this year's Busan Mobility Show, Genesis is displaying a total of six vehicles: the Magma GT Concept, the GMR-001 Hypercar design model, the GV60 Magma, the GV70 electrification model, the G80 electrification model and the GV80 Black Coupe.
