Lionel Messi of Inter Miami, Argentina's football icon and one of the world's biggest sports stars, has set yet another landmark at the North America World Cup.
According to Guinness World Records (GWR), Messi simultaneously broke four all-time World Cup records on Saturday.
GWR marveled on its official social media channels, saying "we are witnessing living history," and released the detailed figures behind each mark Messi had broken.
The records are: most goals scored in World Cup history (18), most appearances by an individual (28 matches), most victories (18) and most minutes played (2,489).
Having already collected eight Ballon d'Or awards, won the Qatar World Cup and lifted 46 career trophies, Messi has cemented his status as the greatest of all time.
Messi continues to lead Argentina's winning run at the North America tournament, having scored five goals so far to sit atop the World Cup all-time scoring chart.
