Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's daughter sends thank-you email to Seoul police after Hongdae visit

The eldest daughter of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sent a thank-you email to Seoul police officers who managed crowds during his visit to the Hongdae neighborhood earlier this month, it has emerged.

Madison Huang, Nvidia's senior director of product marketing for Omniverse and robotics, wrote to Yu Jong-cheol, head of the public safety intelligence division at Seoul's Mapo Police Station, saying she wanted to express gratitude for how Seoul police handled the visit. "Even amid unexpected crowds, the officers helped us in a very skillful way," she said.

She added that Jensen Huang "sincerely appreciates the police for keeping the Korean public safe."

Mapo Police Station had learned that Huang would arrive at Gimpo Airport on a private jet on June 5 and visit a PC bang in Hongdae to meet League of Legends player Faker, and immediately deployed officers to manage the crowds.

When word spread that Huang would also attend a samgyeopsal and soju — or "samso" — gathering with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, police reinforced the detail with one riot unit of 60 officers and about 40 additional staff.

After the samso dinner, Huang's party indicated they wanted to walk through a narrow alley to a noraebang. Police warned of safety risks and tried to dissuade them, and the noraebang plan was ultimately scrapped. The group instead opted for chimaek — fried chicken and beer — at a nearby BBQ Chicken store.

Officers advised Huang to "move along the walls to minimize contact with the public," but when he stepped into the street waving to fans, hundreds of people surged toward him at once. Mapo Police Station immediately deployed riot units to control the crowd and moved barricades to the chicken restaurant.

After the Hongdae schedule wrapped up, an Nvidia official offered to treat Yu to a meal. Yu declined, saying it would be difficult to accept as a civil servant, and handed over a business card rather than his email address.

"Since it was a Friday night in Hongdae, I was focused on ensuring free movement for citizens while preventing any accidents," Yu told Yonhap News Agency. He added that he had told the Nvidia side it would be difficult to accept a meal given his status as a civil servant.

Yu said he replied to Madison Huang's email saying he was glad Huang and his party had completed their Korea visit safely, and that Seoul police were confident in maintaining safety and would welcome them back to Seoul at any time.

Earlier, Nvidia posted on its official social media on June 9, calling it "a truly incredible week." "From Jensen Huang's arrival at Gimpo Airport to the Korea AI Ecosystem Reception, this week was more than just meetings — it was time spent building the future together," the company said.
