Seoul's Seongbuk-gu district will operate three free outdoor water play facilities this summer, giving residents a nearby option to beat the heat without traveling far.
The facilities — at Odong Neighborhood Park in Wolgok-dong, Jangseok Children's Park in Jangwi-dong, and Kkumnara Children's Park in Bomun-dong — will be open from July 4 to Aug. 30, free to all visitors. The district expects the sites to serve as family recreation spaces in the heart of the city during the summer months.
Each facility will run six sessions per day, with 45 minutes of use followed by a 15-minute break between sessions. Operations will pause from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. daily for maintenance and water quality management. The facilities will be closed every Monday for equipment upkeep and safety inspections.
Seongbuk-gu is taking thorough steps to ensure safety and water quality so residents can use the facilities with confidence. Safety and operations staff will be stationed at each site, and regular water quality tests will be conducted. The district also plans to replace the water in each facility daily to maintain hygienic and comfortable conditions.
"We will do our best to operate and manage the water play facilities so that residents can enjoy a cool summer close to home, without having to travel far," district mayor Lee Seung-ro said.
