The Samsung Biologics labor union, which has been waging a work-to-rule campaign demanding wage increases and improvements to the personnel management system, has decided to withdraw from Samsung Group's cross-company union.
The Samsung Biologics Mutual Prosperity Branch of the Samsung Group cross-company union announced Sunday that a membership vote on changing the union's organizational structure — with withdrawal from the cross-company union in mind — had passed.
Samsung Biologics conducted the vote on the organizational restructuring and bylaw revisions from June 24 through Sunday.
Of the 4,005 eligible voting members, 2,479 cast ballots on the organizational change proposal, and 2,392 of them — or 96.5 percent — voted in favor. The measure required a majority of members to participate and at least two-thirds of voters to approve.
