One-on-one intensive counseling sessions set for July 29, with slots expanded from 90 to 110 students; dedicated counselors to offer in-depth consultations from Aug. 11 to 22; admissions strategy seminar for 400 students and parents slated for Aug. 12
Yangcheon-gu, led by District Mayor Lee Gi-jae, is launching a tailored college admissions support program to help students and parents preparing for the 2027 university entrance exam's early admissions round develop effective application strategies.
The program operates through three support tracks: one-on-one intensive counseling, a dedicated counselor service for exam candidates, and an early admissions strategy seminar. The district plans to provide personalized consultations based on each student's academic goals and abilities, along with up-to-date admissions information, to narrow the information gap between exam candidates and parents and help them succeed in the early admissions process.
The first track, a one-on-one intensive counseling session, will be held July 29 at the Yangcheon Digital Media Center on the third floor of the district office. Eleven specialist admissions counselors will analyze each student's grades and school records to recommend eligible universities and tailored early admissions strategies.
This year, the district expanded counseling slots from 90 last year to 110 and increased the number of counselors from 10 to 11 to reach more students. It also switched from a first-come, first-served registration system to a computerized lottery to improve fairness and transparency.
Students and parents wishing to apply may register online through the Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal from June 29 through July 3. The computerized lottery will be held July 6, with results posted on the district office website July 7 and sent individually to selected applicants.
On Aug. 12 at 7 p.m., the district will host a "2027 University Early Admissions Strategy Seminar" at Haenuri Hall in Haenuri Town, featuring Im Seong-ho, head of Jongno Hagwon, a specialist admissions preparation institution. Im, a former education policy adviser to EBS, will walk attendees through the key changes to the 2027 early admissions cycle, the distinctive features of each university's selection process, and strategies to maximize admission prospects. The seminar targets 400 local students and parents, with registration opening July 15 on the Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal.
In addition, the district will operate a dedicated counselor service at the Yangcheon Education Support Center from Aug. 11 to 22 to provide in-depth consultations and meet growing demand. Registration opens at 10 a.m. on July 27 through the Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal.
"In an increasingly complex and shifting university admissions landscape, we have expanded our personalized counseling capacity and strengthened our expertise so that local students and parents can ease their anxiety and build systematic strategies for success," District Mayor Lee said. "We will continue to expand tailored education support policies so that students can chart a path that matches their abilities and aptitudes."
