Korea Minting Corp.'s new auditor makes workplace safety, communication first priority

The newly appointed standing auditor of the Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corp. made workplace safety inspections and staff communication his first official acts after taking office, as the state-run corporation pursues digital transformation and business diversification.

According to the corporation Monday, standing auditor Oh Kwang-ok visited headquarters and all major divisions — including the Currency Division, Paper Division, ID Division, integrated data center and Technology Research Institute — between June 10 and June 24, receiving operational briefings and reviewing key issues at each site.

Oh received briefings from every headquarters department on June 10 and 11. He then visited the Currency Division on June 18, the Paper Division on June 23, and the ID Division, data center and Technology Research Institute on June 24, examining major production facilities, manufacturing processes and safety management systems.

He assessed that while the corporation is building a new growth foundation through digital transformation and business diversification — amid a changing business environment that includes declining cash usage — managing a broad range of risks is becoming increasingly important as its existing business structure is restructured.

The corporation plans to establish a prevention-focused auditing system that anticipates and manages risk factors in advance, minimizing operational risk and supporting the organization's sustainable growth. Going forward, it will focus on building a business and operational risk management framework, strengthening audit expertise, embedding compliance and ethical management, and spreading a culture of field-centered communication and proactive administration.

"The Korea Minting Corp. is writing a new future for currency, from analog to digital," Oh said. "Drawing on my experience across the private sector, government and academia, I will proactively examine and anticipate risks to support management through this period of transition, communicate actively with the field, and work together to design our future."
