Participation rises by about 600 from last year to 5,814; winning works on display at Hamtaeho Hall through July 26
Ottogi held the awards ceremony for the 4th Ottogi Illustration Festival (OIF) at Hamtaeho Hall on June 26.
This year's theme was "Ottogi Ketchup," marking the product's 55th anniversary, and the brand's signature color, yellow. A total of 5,814 people entered — about 600 more than the previous year. The contest, held across general, youth and children's categories, selected 213 winners through two rounds of judging.
The grand prize went to Jo Yun-jin for "Attached Everyday Life: Red Habit." Inspired by Andy Warhol's "Campbell's Soup Cans," the work reconstructs a commercial-use Ottogi ketchup bottle using box tape. The layered surface of multicolored tape conveys the texture of ketchup and the accumulation of time.
The winning works will be on display for one month through July 26 in a pop-up zone on the second floor of Hamtaeho Hall. A series of four works by grand prize winner Jo — a tape artist — tracing the history of Ottogi Ketchup will also be shown.
An Ottogi official said the company would "continue creative activities with consumers so that Ottogi products can expand into a medium for art that connects people, spaces and time within everyday life and the home."
