Environmental officer Yoo Hee-jae earns top honors for cleanliness, facility upkeep and user convenience
Seoul's Dobong-gu announced that one of its public restroom managers has been named the top winner in the 27th National Excellent Public Sanitation Facility Manager evaluation — the only district-level winner from Seoul.
The annual competition, hosted by the Ministry of Interior and Safety and organized by the Korea Toilet Culture Association, assesses public restroom managers nationwide on cleanliness, facility maintenance and user convenience.
Yoo Hee-jae, an environmental officer with the district, earned the top distinction for his sustained efforts to keep public restrooms in the area clean and well-maintained.
Colleagues say Yoo has long served as a model for others, consistently stepping up to handle on-site complaints and the day-to-day challenges of facility management.
"It is an honor to receive such a meaningful award, and I am grateful to the colleagues who worked hard alongside me," Yoo said. "I will continue to do my best to provide clean public restrooms that residents can use with confidence."
Dobong-gu draws up an annual public restroom management plan and conducts manager training and inspections at least once a week, along with quarterly facility checks, to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for residents.
