Eli's remarriage announcement draws ex-wife Ji Yeon-su's complaint over child support

Broadcaster Ji Yeon-su, a former racing model and ex-wife of U-KISS member Eli, has spoken out about receiving what she called woefully inadequate child support, after Eli announced his remarriage six years after their divorce.

On June 29, Ji's YouTube channel posted a video titled "Ji Yeon-su's thoughts on her ex-husband's child support." In it, she hosted a counseling segment responding to viewers who wrote in with divorce-related concerns.

When a viewer's story came up — headlined "My ex-husband is behind on child support but shows off luxury goods on social media" — Ji said, "Child support is money that goes toward raising a child. It is the child's right." She added that former spouses often resist paying, as if handing their own money over to the mother.

Ji went on to say that the child support calculation tables are several years out of date and fail to keep pace with rising prices, leaving the amounts "woefully insufficient."

She revealed that she receives 850,000 won ($550) a month from Eli and said she had taken on part-time work to make up the shortfall.

"The minimum child support for the youngest child is 640,000 won — you just have to make peace with that," Ji said. "When I think about that amount, I'm the only one left reeling."

She added that it was more practical to find part-time work herself than to keep fighting over child support.

Ji recently shared that she had been working as a server at a seolleongtang restaurant and was receiving physical therapy for wrist pain.

Meanwhile, Ji married Eli, who is 11 years her junior, in 2014, and the couple had a son in 2016. They divorced in 2020, with Ji retaining both custody and parental rights.
