GH signs MOU with Korea Disabled People's Development Institute to boost jobs for people with severe disabilities

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corp. (GH) announced Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Disabled People's Development Institute at the institute's office in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, to expand sales channels for products made by people with severe disabilities and to create and support employment opportunities for them.

Under the agreement, GH will significantly increase its purchases of products made by people with severe disabilities — including construction materials, safety supplies and facility management services needed for land development and building projects. GH said it expects the expanded sales channels to help production facilities run by people with severe disabilities generate stable revenue and build a foundation for genuine community independence.

The agreement is considered an innovative co-prosperity model because it goes beyond the previous practice of purchasing only office supplies, directly incorporating products made by people with severe disabilities into GH's core work of public housing construction and urban development.

GH said it will also actively pursue direct job creation by leveraging its infrastructure and linking it to ongoing projects.

"This agreement will be a turning point in broadly realizing the values of co-prosperity and inclusion in the housing and cities that GH creates," GH President Kim Yong-jin said.
